Soooo! I've been getting lots of questions about how I go about hair. It was a big hurdle for me at first so hopefully this helps someone out there figure it out faster than I did!
Takeaway: WORK BIG. ALWAYS WORK BIG. That cool hair stroke brush you downloaded? Throw it away. Grab that huge bulky Basic Round, give it a nice dense spacing and work those forms. The details will make themselves and you'll just need to give it a few finishing touches! Also never use a smudge brush for hair. Never ever. It ruins the natural texture that comes from this kind of brushwork!
This whole process should take no longer than 20 minutes to put together (most time is spent at 4-6), depending on the complexity of the style you're painting, and it frees you up to focus on the rest of the image and the last finishing details to really bring it to life.
